We are really excited to announce that Andrew has been added to the list of 'Expert Speakers' that will be delievering a series of talks over the weekend.
Long Course Weekend
Pembrokeshire plays host annually to one of the most difficult triathlons in Wales – the Long Course Weekend. This unique event lasts three days in mid-July, accommodating some of the best triathlon talent in the UK and the world, including a number of IRONMAN UK athletes, serving as the perfect preparation and build up to the IRONMAN Wales event in September.
To kick-off the weekend on Friday evening, the Long Course athletes have The Wales Swim to complete – a 2.4 mile swim that takes place on Tenby’s North Beach. On Saturday their attention turns to The Wales Sportive, and 112 miles of undulating Welsh countryside lined with enthusiastic crowds. To finish the weekend, the athletes have the small task(!) of completing the 26.2 miles of The Wales Marathon, which is quickly establishing itself as a fantastic event in its own right.
More than 20,000 competitors have attempted the difficult terrain and challenging weather conditions on this punishing route since its first race in 2010. Of last year’s 700 Long Course Weekend athletes, only around half could manage to cross the finish line and collect the final piece of the event’s unique medal design.
To aid the competitors on this exceptionally tough weekend Andrew will be delivering two presentations.
Andrew’s first seminar is around how best to deal with the long weekend ahead, wasting energy worrying about things that haven't happened will have a big impact on your performance, so lots of advice and tips will be given on how to get the best out of yourself over the three days. He will also highlight opportunities for when your own ‘Reaper’ may hijack your performance over the weekend, and give you some tools to keep that internal dialogue quiet so you can focus on your performance.
Pre Race Nerves
More races are won or lost before you even get in the pool, on your bike or lace your shoes. Andrew will share his top tips for controlling Pre Race and Event nerves. Looking at what causes Nervousness, the effect and impact it has on your outcome in the event. This will be a very interactive and fun session. The Running Reaper will also make an appearance as he is one of the biggest influencers of nerves when competing.
